This is catch all proposal and feature request tracker for adding radio support in ErsatzTV.
The idea is to add support for radio channels.
A channels can be a auto DJ music channel, a podcast channel or a full blown radio channel that use a combination of podcast and auto DJ to simulate a real radio channel.
Codecs that are good candidates for use in this mode are:

MP3
OGG/vorbis
OGG/Opus
MP4/ACC
FLAC
a tv channel (broadcast a black video stream for simulate radio channels that broadcast over dvb-C (cable) or dvb-S(2) (satellite) )

For the transport format I think that we use Icecast protocol for the audio only stream and the current protocols that we current use for the video streams.

Thanks I think self more about channels for audio file not video files.

I am not sure that I follow you. Are you referring to audio files as input or output? You can currently create a channel with audio files as input. The output is stream contains the audio stream along with a video stream generated from the album art and containing the artist, album and title of the song as an overlay.

If you are asking for a stream with audio only and no corresponding video, well that does not currently exist but I suspect you can achieve that by piping it through something like TV headend etc.

I see. An interesting request. I suspect that a lot people who listen to 'radio' these days use a device which has a screen and would appreciate having the metadata for the tracks that they are listening to.
The pipe command below make tvheadend see the feed as a radio channel on my ubuntu server. This does not negate your request just a suggestion as to how it could be achieved currently
